The Higher Education HR Conference 2008

DRIVING UNIVERSITY SUCCESS

Professor Kerry Cox, President AHEIA with The Hon Brendan O'Connor MP, Minister for Employment Participation. Professor Kerry Cox opens The Higher Education HR Conference 2008 at the Amora Hotel, Sydney 10 April. The Hon Brendan O'Connor MP meets Professor Ron McCallum AO, guest speaker.

The Conference was held from 9 April to 11 April 2008 at the Amora Hotel, Sydney.  For the first time, AHEIA and the Group of Eight brought together all Australia's public universities to consider HR and IR issues arising from the challenging environment faced by the Higher Education sector.

Specific issues covered included:

  • changing employment arrangements - internationally and domestically
  • flexible and innovative remuneration strategies, including alternative pay structures
  • how the new enterprise bargaining environment might impact culture change and broad university goals
  • engaging supervisors and managers to become leaders of change, and
  • maintaining a quality work environment - think globally, act locally.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Gold Sponsor, Academic Search International, our Silver Sponsors Slade Group and UniSuper and our Bronze Sponsors Campus Review, DLA Phillips Fox, Mercer and Daysh Consulting.
