Prepare to lead differently 

If you want to be a leader others want to follow you will need to set clear and attainable goals, match your leadership style to individuals in your team, and give appropriate feedback.  As a Situational Leader, you will help others develop competence, motivation and confidence.  Situational Leadership II (SLII) will boost your effectiveness, impact and dedication and teach you to behave in alignment with your good intentions and with what your people need.

Recognised as both a business language and a framework for employee development that transcends cultural, linguistic, and geographical boundaries, the foundation of SLII lies in teaching leaders to diagnose the needs of an individual and then use the appropriate leadership style to respond to the needs of the person.

By learning three important skills - goal setting, diagnosing, and matching - SLII provides the framework for you to become the kind of leader people want to follow.

Learning Outcomes

  • Diagnose the development levels of employees and choose the appropriate leadership style
    
  • Increase the frequency and quality of conversation about performance and development
  • Create a communication model for all levels of the organisation to support cultural change and move toward a high performance organisation
 
  • Become a flexible leader who is highly skilled at goal setting, coaching, performance evaluation, active listening, feedback and proactive problem solving
  • Increase individual and organisational accountability by linking goals and planned intentions to an action plan
 
  • Learn a new language of leadership to partner for maximum productivity and morale

Program Format 

Each delivery has a four-part learning experience.  The four phases are;

LAUNCH - pre-workshop activities to set the context for learning and engage learners in the content of SLII

LEARN - learning activities to teach leaders the three skills, the language and the six conversations of a Situational Leader 

PRACTICE - learning activities to develop new skills through robust skills practice, applying what was learned to real work

MASTER - strategies to develop and extend learning so that it becomes second nature to set SMART goals, diagnose development level and use the matching leadership style

Facilitator

Ian Beeson – Managing Director - Blanchard Australia

Ian’s interest in leadership and teamwork was sparked many years ago, with his involvement in the Scouts, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Rotary Youth Leadership Award programs.  His early professional life focused on delivering effective Information Services to consulting clients, as a member of what is now Accenture, then as the leader of Information Services functions in both Mobil Oil and Phillip Morris.  During his career with Mobil, Ian served as a member of the international audit team, and led a comprehensive systems update project in Lagos, Nigeria.

His work with Phillip Morris led him to support the effective management of information systems projects around the Asia-Pacific region, and his teaching of project management techniques gave him his introduction to the Ken Blanchard Situational Leadership® II solutions family.  He became accredited to deliver the Situational Leadership© II and Building High Performance Teams© programs within Phillip Morris and then joined Blanchard International Australia in 2006.

As Managing Director of Blanchard International Australia, Ian serves clients across a broad range of fields from education through heavy manufacturing, from financial services through pharmaceutical manufacturing and from fitness through telecommunications.   He is based in Melbourne but serves his clients across Australia and around the world.  His passion lies in supporting people to fulfil their dreams.

Training Terms, Conditions & Refunds

More than 28 calendar days prior to event start date a participant may: substitute an attendee, transfer to an alternative program date or cancel participation in a training program and request a refund by emailing training@aheia.edu.au

15 - 28 calendar days prior to event start date a participant may: substitute an attendee or transfer to an alternative program date

14 calendar days or less prior to event start date  a participant may: substitute an attendee.

To ensure the maximum value for AHEIA members, a minimum number of participants are required to run a successful program. AHEIA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program to an alternative date. In this event registrants will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available program, or receive a full refund.
