What this program is about

In 2020, the way we lead our teams got just a little more complicated.  Our organisations are restructuring, putting people into leadership roles that require different conversations to the “pre-Covid19” days.  This coaching program delivers skills appropriate to both local (face-to-face) and virtual (communication via technology) working relationships, between peers as well as leader/team-member.  In just 3 sessions, we’ll share the skillset and mindset critical for coaching in today’s leadership environment.

Presented by Blanchard Australia in partnership with AHEIA, this leadership coaching program presented by Blanchard Australia teaches managers how to effectively coach their employees - not just manage them - to increase productivity, create an environment of trust and autonomy, and help their team members perform at their best.

This is a skills based practical training program designed to give you the mindset, essential skills, and structured process you need to accelerate development and bring out the best in your people.

Learning Outcomes

By integrating coaching knowledge and skills into your leadership conversations, you will learn how to have powerful coaching conversations that create connection, increase trust, and help their team members perform at their best with the following outcomes:

  • Increase the quality of conversations
  • Accelerate individual and team progress toward objectives
  • Create an environment of trust that nurtures the development of others
  • Leverage four coaching skills that develop self-reliance in others
  • Apply the four-step coaching process that results in clear agreements and action
  • Identify when coaching is needed to help others reach a higher level of performance

Program Format

Effective coaching requires the leader to have an appropriate mindset (help people grow vs reinforce leader dependence); to use efficient processes in all conversations; and demonstrate the appropriate fundamental skills to be able to successfully execute coaching conversations in both a formal and informal setting.

In this one day program, you will discover the coaching process and a set of essential coaching skills, with many opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and practice these new behaviours.

The Blanchard® Coaching Process comprises four elements:

  1. Connect – Build trust and positive relationships
  2. Focus – Identify topics and goals
  3. Activate – Collaborate to develop a plan for action
  4. Review – Clarify agreements and discuss accountability

Ian’s interest in leadership and teamwork was sparked many years ago, with his involvement in the Scouts, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Rotary Youth Leadership Award programs.  His early professional life focused on delivering effective Information Services to consulting clients, as a member of what is now Accenture.

As Managing Director of Blanchard Australia, Ian serves clients across a broad range of fields from education through heavy manufacturing, from financial services through pharmaceutical manufacturing and from fitness through telecommunications.  His passion lies in supporting people to fulfil their dreams.

Training Terms, Conditions & Refunds

More than 28 calendar days prior to event start date a participant may: substitute an attendee, transfer to an alternative program date or cancel participation in a training program and request a refund by emailing

15 - 28 calendar days prior to event start date a participant may: substitute an attendee or transfer to an alternative program date

14 calendar days or less prior to event start date  a participant may: substitute an attendee.

To ensure the maximum value for AHEIA members, a minimum number of participants are required to run a successful program. AHEIA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program to an alternative date. In this event registrants will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available program, or receive a full refund.
